Analyse Performance

Calculate Vessel Experience / Voyage Analysis / Evaluate Port Efficiency / Calculate Jetty Occupancy / Review Demurrage

Men at refineryAnalysing performance is one of the many important activities supported by OAS. OAS helps in a number of ways.

OAS data is held in an ORACLE database from which it can be extracted to spreadsheets, word-processing packages and third party systems using industry standard XML format. This allows any data to be extracted and analysed using a tool that the user is familiar with.

The Vessel Experience Factor is calculated using the algorithms published by the Institute of Petroleum. Vessel experience is particularly useful in settling disputes. Voyage Analysis is supported to record and review quantities at each point of the voyage from Load to Outturn with ship’s figures, including ROB and OBQ, at each port

Making short-term additions to the timesheet information to be entered by Jetty Operators is a powerful means of supporting Business Improvement Initiatives. New “events” can be added to the standard template used by operators e.g. “Pilot requested”, “Pilot available”, “Pilot leaves station”, “Pilot arrives” etc and the timestamps analysed afterwards.

With all the movement and timesheet information held in the database, calculating Key Performance Indicators such as Berth Occupancy or average time between completing loading and the ship sailing can be analysed. As well as providing many summary reports of its own, OAS also provides the data for many key indicators reviewed in standard industry benchmarking such as Solomon.

The OAS Explorer module provides a visualisation of the shipping programme and improves planning and scheduling for shipments, as well as providing a quick reference historical analysis. Drill down facilities provide more detailed information, and switches to alternative views are easy, to look at shipments from the perspective of demurrage, grades being loaded, receipt/delivery, or stage of the order/operation lifecycle.
